David L. Sechler, M.D., FACS

Dr. David Sechler joined Peninsula Surgical Group in 1997 after relocating from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served four years as an active duty Lt. Commander and General Surgeon in the United States Navy. Dr. Sechler has always had a great thirst for knowledge and education and as a result, was appointed as the Director of Education at Camp Lejeune during his time in the Navy. As his time with the Navy came to a close, he made the decision to come to Salisbury, Maryland to provide excellent medical care to the region in which he was raised.

After Dr. Sechler joined Peninsula Surgical Group, he was appointed as the Chief of General Surgery at Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) and has served in this capacity for the past 10 years. Due to his dedication and valuable contributions, he was named the Physician of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2012 at PRMC. Dr. Sechler has always believed in providing quality, and comprehensive care for his patients.. By focusing on the continuity of care, he is able to provide all-inclusive, quality care that best serves his patients on the Eastern Shore.

While Dr. Sechler has been performing stereotactic biopsies for more than 12 years, he has continued to stay abreast of the latest technology and treatment methods through ongoing education. During his training in Stereotactic and Ultrasound Guided Biopsies, taught by national experts with the American College of Surgeons, he developed a particular interest in joining The American Society of Breast Surgeons. The American Society of Breast Surgeons is the primary leadership organization for general surgeons who treat patients with breast disease. They are committed to continually improving the practice of breast surgery by serving as an advocate for surgeons who seek excellence in the care of breast patients. The American Society of Breast Surgeons accomplishes this mission by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and by promoting education, research, and the development of advanced surgical techniques. Over the past year, Dr. Sechler has participated in classroom lectures, clinical applications, written exams, and practical exams with nationally recognized examiners. As a result of this extensive training, he is the first physician on the Delmarva Peninsula to become certified in Stereotactic Breast Procedures. While this is a major accomplishment in his career, his dedication to the exceptional quality care of his patients does not stop there. Over the upcoming year, he will continue his training to pursue certification in Ultrasound Guided Procedures.

Dr. Sechler, in conjunction with Peninsula Surgical Group, has dedicated his medical career to providing exceptional, quality care to the Eastern Shore community. He is truly a doctor that patients can put their trust in for the comprehensive, innovative care they deserve.
